6/7/2023 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets tomorrow to consider several bills
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will meet tomorrow, Thursday, June 8 at the RISE of the House (approximately 5:30 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House to consider several bills.

The following bills are scheduled for consideration:
  • 2023-S 0003, 2023-H 6313, sponsored by Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio (D-Dist. 4, North Providence, Providence) and Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski (D-Dist. 17, Cranston), amends the definitions of "collegiate sports or athletic event" and "sporting event" within the chapter on "video lottery games, table games and sports wagering.”
  • 2023-H 5195, sponsored by Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett), allows anyone who rendered services as a correction officer to receive pension credit for service as a state or municipal employee.
  • 2023-H 6293, 2023-S 0856, sponsored by Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown), amends the utility base rate statute to make clean transportation, clean heating, and energy storage.
  • 2023-H 5999, 2023-S 0748, sponsored by Rep. Deborah A. Fellela (D-Dist. 43, Johnston) and Sen. Frank A. Ciccone (D-Dist. 7, Providence, Johnston), provides free admission to any state owned recreational facility for Gold Star families with exceptions for docking slips.
  • 2023-H 6375, sponsored by Rep. Susan R. Donovan (D-Dist. 69, Bristol, Portsmouth), establishes a new, temporary process in the Department of Children, Youth and Families for the hiring of social workers and child protective investigators at the department for a one-year period commencing August 1, 2023.
The meeting will be televised live by Capitol Television, which can be seen by Cox Communications subscribers on channels 15 and 61 for high definition, on channel 15 by i3Broadband viewers, and channel 34 for Verizon subscribers.
