Media Advisory Senate Health, Human Services Committee to vote on foot care bill
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee will meet tomorrow and Thursday for hearings on numerous bills and is scheduled to vote tomorrow on a bill enabling home foot care by nurses.
The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31, at the rise of the Senate session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House. It has scheduled a vote on:

2026-S 2116 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Lori Urso (D-Dist. 8, Pawtucket) would enable nurses to provide routine foot care in patients’ homes, provided they get proper training and demonstrate clinical competency.
The committee has scheduled hearings on several bills, including:

2026-S 2113— The Healthy Kids Act, sponsored by Sen. Pamela J. Lauria (D-Dist. 32, Barrington, Bristol, East Providence), would require restaurants offering children’s meals to offer at least two healthy children’s meals, or 25% of the children’s meals on their menu, whichever is greater.

2026-S 2858— This bill sponsored by Sen. Lammis J. Vargas (D-Dist. 28, Cranston, Providence) would create a new license for eyelash service technicians, require permits for eyelash businesses, establish training and exam standards, authorize the Department of Health with enforcement and fines, and imposes a $500 penalty for unlicensed practice.

2026-S 2868 — Sponsored by Sen. Bridget Valverde (D-Dist. 35, North Kingstown, East Greenwich, South Kingstown), this bill increases continuing education requirements for physician assistants, removes restrictions of PAs to render charitable care and aid for school and youth programs or cardiac arrest and removes restrictive covenants as to ownership by a PA.

2026-S 2882 — The Quality Self-Directed Supports Act, sponsored by Sen. Brian J. Thompson (D-Dist. 20, Woonsocket, Cumberland), incorporates collective bargaining rights into the self-directed supports program to ensure that more developmentally disabled adults can self-direct the care they need and want.

2026-S 2866 — Sponsored by Senator Valverde, this bill would allow collaborative pharmacy agreements enabling licensed pharmacists with advanced training and experience to work in collaboration with physicians for the purpose of drug therapy management of patients.

2026-S 2562 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Alana M. DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown, New Shoreham) includes both the MomsPRN and PediPRN teleconsultation lines in the health care services funding contributions payable by health insurers.
Both meetings will be televised by Capitol Television on Cox channels 15 and 61 for high definition; i3Broadband (Formerly Full Channel) channel 15; and Verizon channel 34.
