Media Advisory: Senate Health and Human Services Committee meets Tuesday, Thursday for hearings
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee will meet tomorrow and Thursday, for hearings on a variety of bills.
The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, at the rise of the Senate session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House for hearings on several bills, including:

2026-S 2855 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Pamela J. Lauria (D-Dist. 32, Barrington, Bristol, East Providence) would permit students diagnosed with asthma, a condition that may lead to bronchospasm or anaphylaxis, or both, to carry and self-administer asthma medication or auto-injectable or intranasal epinephrine, or both.

2026-S 2873 — Sponsored by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 11, Middletown, Little Compton, Newport, Tiverton), this bill would require inspection and evaluation of indoor air quality in public schools.

2026-S 2892 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Victoria Gu (D-Dist. 38, Westerly, Charlestown, South Kingstown) would establish a “food as medicine” pilot program and task force to be administered by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.
The committee meets again Thursday, March 12, at the rise of the Senate session in the Senate Lounge for hearings on several bills, including:

2026-S 2118 — Sponsored by Senator Lauria, this bill designates the Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner as the state agency with the authority to designate patient-centered medical home care to obtain maximal health outcomes.

2026-S 2689 — Sponsored by Health and Human Services Committee Chairwoman Melissa Murray (D-Dist. 24, Woonsocket, North Smithfield), this bill would require that the Executive Office of Health and Human Services assemble a network of equity zones where local multisector groups of nonprofits, service providers, advocates, community members, state agencies and municipalities can address social factors of health at a local level.
Both meetings will be televised by Capitol Television on Cox channels 15 and 61 for high definition; i3Broadband (Formerly Full Channel) channel 15; and Verizon channel 34.
