3/2/2026 Media Advisory: Senate Health and Human Services Committee to hear variety of bills
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee will hold hearings on several bills tomorrow, including one to help protect health care providers who prescribe abortion prescriptions.

The committee is scheduled to meet today, Thursday, March 3, at the rise of the Senate session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House for hearings on several bills, including:
  • 2026-S 2033 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Pamela J. Lauria (D-Dist. 32,s Barrington, Bristol, East Providence) would allow the name of the dispensing practice, rather than the name of the prescribing practitioner, to be used on the prescription label for abortion medications.
  • 2026-S 2116 — Sponsored by Sen. Lori Urso (D-Dist. 8, Providence), this bill would permit a certified foot-care nurse to provide certain at-home foot care, including routine foot and nail care such as nail clipping.
  • 2026-S 2560 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Alana M. DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown, New Shoreham) would permit licensed providers to accompany emergency medical services and treat patients within the community for mental health disorders, including substance use disorders.
The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television on Cox channels 15 and 61 for high definition; i3Broadband (Formerly Full Channel) channel 15; and Verizon channel 34. Written testimony may be emailed to  SLegislation@rilegislature.gov and must be submitted prior to 3 p.m. tomorrow, in order for it to be provided to the members of the committee at the hearing and to be included in the meeting records. It will be considered a public record.
