Media Advisory: House Health, Human Services Committee to hear several health and safety bills
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee meets Thursday for hearings on several bills concerning health and safety matters.
The committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, Jan. 29, at the rise of the House session in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House. Among the bills the committee is scheduled to hear are:

2026-H 7030 — Sponsored by Rep. Evan P. Shanley (D-Dist. 24, Warwick, East Greenwich), the Healthcare Worker Platform Act requires platforms offering health care shifts to register with the Rhode Island Department of Health while exempting them from being classified as nursing service agencies.

2026-H 7188 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Brian Patrick Kennedy (D-Dist. 38, Hopkinton, Westerly) caps the amount payable for 30-day supply of equipment/supplies for insulin administration/glucose monitoring, or equipment designed to last more than 30 days, at $25 with no deductible.

2026-H 7193 — This bill sponsored by Rep. John J. Lombardi (D-Dist. 8, Providence) would create mandatory training standards for police officers and trainees in identifying, responding and handling all incidents involving any person with a developmental disability.
The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channels 15 and 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
