Media Advisory: House Labor Committee to hear variety of bills
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Labor Committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday for hearings on several pieces of legislation.
The meeting is scheduled Wednesday, April 9, at 4 p.m. in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House.
Among the bills scheduled to be heard are:

2025-H 5448 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett) would eliminate the June 30, 2025, sunset provision in the law increasing the total amount of earnings a partial-unemployment insurance claimant can receive before being entirely disqualified for unemployment insurance benefits.

2025-H 6066 — Sponsored by Rep. Joshua J. Giraldo (D-Dist. 56, Central Falls), this bill would include siblings, grandchildren and care recipients in the coverage for temporary caregiver benefits and increases the taxable wage base upon which employees make contributions to the Temporary Disability Insurance and Temporary Caregiver Insurance funds.

2025-H 6161 — Sponsored by Rep. Karen Alzate (D-Dist. 60, Pawtucket, Central Falls), this bill would include menopause and menopause-related conditions in the law on fair employment practices pertaining to pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions.
The meeting will be televised on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
