4/3/2023 Media Advisory: House Health and Human Services Committee meets tomorrow
STATE HOUSE – Th House Health and Human Services Committee will meet tomorrow for a vote on one bill concerning audiologist licensing, and hearings on bills concerning a variety of other issues.

The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, April 4, at the rise of the House (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House.

The bill scheduled for a vote is:
  • 2023-H 5874 — Sponsored by Rep. Arthur Handy (D-Dist. 18, Cranston), this bill would define an audiologist as an individual licensed by the Department of Health to practice audiology.
 
Among the bills scheduled for hearings are:
  • 2023-H 5102 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Julie A. Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) establishes general caseload limits for Department of Children, Youth and Families workers similar to those contained in the Council on Accreditation standards.
  • 2023-H 5185 — Sponsored by Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown), this bill would require that training and instructions for police officers and trainees to include training to appropriately identify and respond to situations involving persons with cognitive or communication-related disabilities.
  • 2023-H 5504 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Patricia A. Serpa (D-Dist. 27, West Warwick, Coventry) includes domestic pets as eligible to use medical marijuana if certified by a licensed veterinarian, and provides that the Cannabis Commission adopt rules and regulations concerning the prescribing of medical cannabis for domestic pet use. There are several other bills concerning animal safety and protection on the committee’s calendar as well.
