2/27/2023 Media Advsory: House Health and Human Services Committee meets tomorrow
STATE HOUSE – The House Health and Human Services Committee meets tomorrow for hearings on numerous bills.

The meeting is scheduled tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the rise of the House session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House. One bill is scheduled for a vote:
  • 2023-H 5147 — Sponsored by Rep. Joseph M. McNamara (D-Dist. 19, Warwick, Cranston), this bill requires the Department of Health to establish an informal dispute resolution to address any changes to Department of Health violations.
Among the bills scheduled for hearings are:
  • 2023-H 5044 — This bill sponsored by Rep. John G. Edwards (D-Dist. 70, Tiverton) extends the expiration date of the Harm Reduction Center Advisory Committee and Pilot Program by two years to March 1, 2026.
  • 2023-H 5013 — This bill sponsored by Rep. John J. Lombardi (D-Dist. 8, Providence) requires mandatory training standards for police in identifying and handling incidents involving any person with a developmental disability.
  • 2023-H 6255— Sponsored by Representative Edwards, this bill prohibits insurers from requiring or conducting a review for prescription medicine used to treat alcohol or opioid use disorder containing methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone or that was approved for the mitigation of opioid withdrawal symptoms.
  • 2023-H 5555 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, South Kingstown, Narragansett) would allow pharmacists to prescribe tobacco cessation drug therapies.
