2/27/2023 Media Advisory: House Labor Committee to hear bills Wednesday
STATE HOUSE –The House Labor Committee meets Wednesday for hearings on numerous bills concerning labor issues.

The meeting is scheduled Wednesday, March 1, at 4:30 p.m., in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House. Among the bills scheduled for hearings are:
  • 2023-H 5180 — Sponsored by Rep. David A. Bennett (D-Dist. 20, Warwick, Cranston), this bill would recognize that municipal employees have the opportunity to utilize interest arbitration and would establish new factors for the arbitrators to consider.
  • 2023-H 5182, 2023-H 5183  — Also sponsored by Representative Bennett, these bills would provide that contract provisions for firefighters and municipal police, respectively, would be extended until a successor agreement has been reached or an interest arbitration award has been rendered.
  • 2023-H 5370 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Megan L. Cotter (D-Dist. 39, Exeter, Richmond, Hopkinton) would void all or portions of noncompetition agreements that restrain employee from working in lawful professions, trades or businesses.
