MEDIA ADVISORY: Thursday’s House Finance Education Subcommittee postponed; full committee to meet to hear legislation

STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Education Subcommittee meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, March 6 at the RISE of the House has been postponed. The meeting, which was scheduled to hear testimony on the budgets for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 18.
Instead, on Thursday, March 6 at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the full Finance Committee will meet to hear legislation.
Among the legislation scheduled to be heard are the following bills:

2025-H 5022, sponsored by Rep. John G. Edwards (D-Dist. 70, Tiverton), increases the maximum state and municipal small purchase limits from $10,000 to $25,000 for construction projects and from $5,000 to $10,000 for all other state and municipal purchases.

2025-H 5054, sponsored by Rep. Arthur J. Corvese (D-Dist. 55, North Providence), requires that the state and all municipalities that construct buildings after January 1, 2026, budget for maintenance on a yearly basis, at least 0.5% of the total construction cost.

2025-H 5469, sponsored by Rep. George Nardone (R-Dist. 28, Coventry), appropriates $2 million to the micro-loan program for FY 25-26.

2025-H 5994, sponsored by Rep. Paul Santucci (R-Dist. 53, Smithfield, Glocester), requires the Department of Environmental Management to develop, identify, maintain and update a list of projects that qualify for forest and open space land conservation funding pursuant to federal laws.
