STATE HOUSE — The Special Commission on Reapportionment will meet
Monday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. in Room 35 of the State House. The
meeting, which was rescheduled after initially being planned for Nov. 10, will include a presentation by Kimball Brace of Election Data Services Presentation on the allocation of prisoners for the census count, including how it has been done historically nationwide and in Rhode Island, legal authority, and more.
Public testimony will be accepted, and masks must be worn at all times by those attending.
The meeting will be live streamed at
http://rilegislature.gov/CapTV/Pages/default.aspx. It will be televised by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox Channels 15 and 61, on Full Channel on Channel 15 and on Channel 34 by Verizon subscribers.
The state constitution calls for the General Assembly to reapportion its districts as well as the two congressional districts after each 10-year federal census.
The commission is chaired by Rep. Robert D. Phillips (D-Dist. 51, Woonsocket, Cumberland) and Sen. Stephen R. Archambault (D-Dist. 22, Smithfield, North Providence, Johnston).
