MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Williams and Sen. Ciccone to join with Immigrant Coalition for press conference on driving privileges for undocumented residents tomorrow

STATE HOUSE – Rep. Anastasia P. Williams (D-Dist. 9, Providence) and Sen. Frank A. Ciccone (D-Dist. 7, Providence, North Providence) will hold a press conference tomorrow, Thursday, June 24 at 12:30 p.m. at the Smith Street entrance of the State House to advocate for their legislation that grants driving privileges to undocumented residents in the state.
Representative Williams and Senator Ciccone will be joined at the press conference by the Immigrant Coalition, members of the Rhode Island Legislative Black and Latino Caucus and supporters of the legislation.
The event will highlight the legislators’ bills (2021-H 5305 / 2021-S 0190A) which would allow the Division of Motor Vehicles to issue driving privilege cards and driving privilege permits to applicants unable to establish lawful presence in the United States. The driving privilege cards and driving privilege permits would not be valid for identification purposes.
