STATE HOUSE – Sen. Donna M. Nesselbush and Rep. Kathleen A. Fogarty will be honoring several women in leadership positions at the state’s higher education institutions at the 2019 International Women’s Day celebration being held
tomorrow, March 7 at 3 p.m. in the State Room of the State House
International Women’s Day is a day to reflect on the achievements of women and the fight for gender equality. It is also a day for acknowledging the strides the world has taken in advancing women’s rights, freedoms and protections. The United Nations has recognized and celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8 since 1975.
This year, the General Assembly will be honoring Christina Paxson, President of Brown University; Dr. Meghan Hughes, President of the Community College of Rhode Island; Mim L. Runey, LP.D, Chancellor of Johnson & Wales University; Rosanne Somerson, President of the Rhode Island School of Design; and Dr. Jane Gerety, RSW, President of Salve Regina University.
