Rep. Noret sworn in as General Assembly convenes
STATE HOUSE — Rep. Thomas E. Noret (D-Dist. 25, Coventry, West Warwick) was formally sworn into office Tuesday, Jan. 1, as the 2019-20 session of the Rhode Island General Assembly convened.
Representative Noret was one of 14 new members of the House of Representatives who took the oath of office, which was administered to 74 House members by Rhode Island Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea.
The House of Representatives began its legislative year with a program of activities that included the re-election of Rep. Nicholas Mattiello (D-Dist. 15, Cranston) as the Speaker of the House. Elected Speaker in March 2014, Mattiello began his third full two-year term today with an address to the House members and other assembled officials and guests.
Representative Noret retired from the Coventry Police Department in 2012 after 20 years on the service. He served in the Rhode Island Air National Guard, 143
Airlift Wing from 1990 to 1994. Most recently he served in the Special Investigation Unit of the Rhode Island Division of Taxation.
He graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School in 1987. He earned an associate’s degree in business and law enforcement from the Community College of Rhode Island in 1991 and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Roger Williams University in 2006.
Born Jan. 21, 1969, he and his wife Julie Aimee (Landroche) Noret have two daughters, Addison and Robbie.
