6/4/2024 Reps. O’Brien and Corvese deliver $10,000 grant for North Providence Police K9, Max
STATE HOUSE – Reps. William W. O’Brien (D-Dist. 54, North Providence) and Arthur J. Corvese (D-Dist. 55, North Providence) recently delivered a $10,000 legislative grant to the North Providence Police Department to support the continued mission of the department’s K9 officer, Max.  Deputy Speaker Raymond A. Hull (D-Dist. 6, Providence, North Providence) was also instrumental in securing the grant, which will help complete the purchase of Max for the department.

“This K9 officer, Max, has been an invaluable member of the North Providence Police Department since he arrived and it is an honor to be able to help with the funding for his vital work,” said Representatives O’Brien.

“Max and his partner, Officer Galligan, serve and protect our community with distinction and we are all lucky to have them working for the residents of North Providence,” said Representative Corvese.

“As a police officer, I know the value that K9 Officer Galligan and Max bring to the residents of North Providence and I am thankful to have them keeping our community safe,” said Deputy Speaker Hull.

“We are more than grateful for the representatives’ support in helping with the purchase of Max.  They have always been strong supporters of the K9 unit since it first started five years ago and we look forward to the community seeing the good work that Max will accomplish,” said K9 Officer Jeffrey Galligan.

Max, since being acquired by the department this year, is used for drug searches and tracking.  He has also been a loving addition to the community through attending school and local events.
