MEDIA ADVISORY: Speaker Shekarchi, Senator Whitehouse, Senate President Ruggerio to host healthcare summit

STATE HOUSE – House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi, in partnership with U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and R.I. Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio, will host a summit on the current state of Rhode Island’s healthcare system.
The summit will be held Tuesday, May 28 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the House Chamber at the Rhode Island State House.
This summit will bring together healthcare physicians and providers, hospital CEOs, industry leaders, insurers and other pivotal stakeholders to engage in a comprehensive review and discussion of pertinent issues. Topics will include the strengths and weaknesses of our existing delivery system, insurance programs, workforce and educational requirements, and equitable access to affordable, quality care.
The summit is by invitation only, but media coverage is welcome. Media members wishing to arrange for in-person coverage are asked to contact Emily Martineau at emartineau@rilegislature.gov.
The Summit will be televised live on Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. It will also be live streamed at https://capitoltvri.cablecast.tv/, where it will be available to view on demand after the event.
