1/29/2024 Media Advisory: House Committee on Corporations to meet Tuesday
STATE HOUSE – The House Committee on Corporations will meet Tuesday to hear eight bills related to protecting the insurance coverage of Rhode Islanders, licensing medical practitioners and regulating pharmacy benefit managers.

The committee is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the rise of the House sometime after 4:30 p.m. in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House. The bills to be heard include:
  • 2024-H 7081 —This bill, introduced by Rep. Robert D. Phillips (D-Dist. 51, Woonsocket, Cumberland), would allow the dependents of an employee eligible for employer sponsored medical insurance to maintain that coverage if the employee changes their individual health coverage to Medicare or is currently on Medicare.
  • 2024-H 7139 — This bill, introduced by Rep. John J. Lombardi (D-Dist. 8, Providence), would regulate pharmacy benefit managers’ policies and practices and establish consumer protection enforcement by the Office of the Attorney General with an aim to reduce prescription drug costs, promote transparency in pricing and prevent discriminatory practices towards consumers.
  • 2024-H 7143 — This bill, introduced by Rep. Arthur J. Corvese (D-Dist. 55, North Providence), would prohibit health insurers from denying claims solely because they arise from motor vehicle accidents or other third-party claims. It also would require any request for medical records or bills to be fulfilled within 14 days of a written request.
