3/14/2023 Senate Minority Whip Gordon Rogers appointed to Rhode island Emergency Management Advisory Council
STATE HOUSE, Providence, RI – The Senate Minority Office extends proud congratulations to Senate Minority Whip Gordon Rogers on his appointment to the Rhode Island Emergency Management Advisory Council. We also express our gratitude to Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio for conferring this appointment and recognizing Senator Rogers’ experience as an attribute to further serve the state.

The Emergency Management Advisory Council reviews information and programs regarding emergency management and makes recommendations and advises the Governor in such issues. The Council is chaired by the Lieutenant Governor and is comprised of 40 members. Senator Rogers will join fellow incoming Senate appointee Senator David P. Tikoian, who served with the RI State Police for 23 years.

“Senator Gordon Rogers is a natural choice,” stated Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la Cruz, who recommended Senator Rogers’ appointment. “His tenure as a full time DPW Director, and as Assistant Emergency Management Director for the Town of Foster, as well as his over 40 years of experience as an EMT/firefighter make him an outstanding addition to this important Advisory Council.”

“I appreciate the opportunity to work with the council and thank the Senate President and Minority Leader for the appointment,” voiced Senator Rogers on his appointment. “My years of experience in the trenches during times of emergency will bring a unique perspective to my participation. I am committed to fostering a culture of preparedness across the state.”
