Representative Bob Quattrocchi Gives State House Tour To Hope Elementary School Students
|
STATE HOUSE -- On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, Representative Bob Quattrocchi (R-District 41 Scituate, Cranston) welcomed students from Hope Elementary School to the Rhode Island State House for a guided tour.
Immediately following, Representative Quattrocchi held a mock session, where students learned all about how State Representatives introduce and vote upon state laws.
“The Rhode Island State House is an exciting building for young minds, because it’s filled with rich history, fascinating stories about our forefathers and astounding architecture and art. I am proud to be able to invite students from my district to tour and learn all about Rhode Island history and also see where the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, General Treasurer and the General Assembly conduct the business of the state,” said Representative Quattrocchi.
“It’s so important to teach young people about how the House of Representatives and the Senate work together to make laws,” said Representative Quattrocchi. “Allowing students to walk through the State House, and ask inquisitive questions, while learning about the state’s history, is a unique experience, beyond what anyone can learn from a text book.” he added.
“Seating students in the House chamber gives them first-hand experience with creating and voting upon laws, and I hope today’s experience inspired some future lawmakers,” Rep. Quattrocchi concluded.
