Governor signs tax relief for active duty mililtary introduced by Blais
|
STATE HOUSE -This week, the Governor signed legislation (2005 - S0133) introduced by Sen. Leo R. Blais (R-Dist 24, Coventry, Foster, Scituate). The new law provides the Coventry Town Council the freedom to provide a tax exemption of up to $1000 for any active duty armed forces personnel.
Senator Blais commented, “Coventry’s active duty military personnel and their families make many sacrifices to protect our country and our town. This is a small way that we as a community can show our support and gratitude. Many times when active duty military personnel are called to duty they rely on their families to care for the business of everyday life that they leave behind. Hopefully this tax exemption will make that a little easier. I was happy to work with the Town Council of Coventry to see this bill become law.”
