2/1/2023 Rep. Baginski named chair of House Innovation, Internet and Technology Committee
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski (D-Dist. 17, Cranston) has been named chairwoman of the House Committee on Innovation, Internet and Technology by House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick).

The committee considers issues and legislation relating to technology for the House.

“With the rapid advancement of technology occurring on a daily basis, it is important that Rhode Islanders are served well by these emerging technologies and that they do not pose a threat to the public or victimize them in any way.  I am looking forward to leading the Innovation, Internet and Technology Committee and I thank Speaker Shekarchi and my fellow House members for placing their faith in me to serve in this vital position,” said Representative Baginski.

In 2022, Representative Baginski introduced a new law (2022-H 6609) which authorizes and regulates peer-to-peer car sharing programs in the state.  “Peer-to-peer car sharing” is defined as the authorized use of a vehicle by an individual other than the vehicle’s owner through a peer-to-peer online car sharing program, allowing the sharing of vehicles for financial consideration.

She was also appointed to the House Finance and State Government and Elections Committees.

Representative Baginski was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in November 2020.  She is the director of sales and marketing for Professional Ambulance and she is the director of Dardan Consulting.
