1/3/2023 Sen. Gu sworn in as General Assembly convenes
STATE HOUSE — Sen.  Victoria Gu (D-Dist. 38, Charlestown, Westerly, South Kingstown) was formally sworn into office today as the 2023-2024 term of the Rhode Island General Assembly convened.

Senator Gu was one of eight new members of the Senate who took the oath of office, which was administered to all 38 Senate members by Rhode Island Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore.

The Senate began its legislative year with a program of activities that included the re-election of Dominick J. Ruggerio as President of the Senate.

The daughter of immigrants from China, Sen. Gu grew up in South Kingstown. She is a graduate of South Kingstown High School and Harvard University. She works as a software engineer and data analyst, and now resides in Charlestown, where she previously served as chair of the town’s Climate Resiliency Commission.
