Media Advisory: House Environment Committee to meet Wednesday to hear packaging recycling bills
|
STATE HOUSE — The House Environment and Natural Resources Committee will meet Wednesday to hear bills related to the recycling of paper, packaging products and beverage containers, and to vote on bills related to invasive plants and climate change impacts and solutions.
The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27, at 4 p.m. in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to hear the following bills:

2026-H 7911 — This bill introduced by Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett) would provide and establish a comprehensive program for extended producer responsibility for packaging and paper, and for recycling of beverage containers.

2026-H 7910 — This bill introduced by Rep. David A. Bennett (D-Dist. 20, Warwick, Cranston), who also chairs the committee, would create an extended producer responsibility for packaging and paper program for the recycling of packaging and paper products.
The committee is also scheduled to vote on the following bills:

2026-H 7071 — This bill introduced by Rep. Jennifer Boylan (D-Dist. 66, Barrington, East Providence) would prohibit the importation, transportation, disbursement, distribution, sale or purchase of any species of non-native invasive plants. The committee will also consider an amendment to the bill.

2026-H 7344 — This resolution introduced by Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown) would establish a permanent commission on climate change impacts and solutions. The committee will also consider an amendment to the resolution.
