Media Advisory: House Environment Committee to meet Tuesday to vote on energy benchmarking for large buildings
|
STATE HOUSE — The House Environment and Natural Resources Committee will meet Tuesday to vote on a bill related to energy benchmarking of large buildings and to hear bills related to plastic takeout containers and reciprocal boating and fish and game laws between Rhode Island and Connecticut.
The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, May 19, at the rise of the House, sometime after 4:30 p.m. in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to vote on the following bill:

2026-H 7183 — This resolution introduced by Rep. Rebecca Kislak (D-Dist. 4, Providence) would establish a program for the energy and water benchmarking of large buildings in Rhode Island and a standard for their energy performance.
The committee will also hear several bills, including:

2026-H 8415 — This resolution introduced by Rep. David A. Bennett (D-Dist. 20, Warwick, Cranston), who also chairs the committee, would prohibit the use of black plastic takeout containers for use to take prepared foods and drinks from restaurants, stores and other retail sales establishments.

2026-H 8522 — This resolution introduced by Rep. Megan L. Cotter (D-Dist. 39, Exeter, Richmond, Hopkinton) would provide reciprocal enforcement of boating and fish and game laws with the state of Connecticut on any part of waters lying between Connecticut and Rhode Island.
