Media Advisory: Senate Housing, Municipal Government Committee meets Thursday for hearings
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Housing and Municipal Government Committee will meet Thursday for hearings on numerous bills.
The meeting is scheduled Thursday, April 9, at the rise of the Senate session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in Room 212 on the second floor of the State House.
Among the bills being heard are:

2026-S 2124 — Sponsored by Sen. Samuel D. Zurier (D-Dist. 3, Providence), this bill requires that an independent efficiency and performance audit of the Department of Transportation be commissioned by the Department of Administration.

2026-S 2903 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Victoria Gu (D-Dist. 38, Westerly, Charlestown, South Kingstown) would establish the Residential and Commercial Property Acquisition Program Act to implement residential or commercial property acquisitions in high-hazard areas, paired with funding for relocation costs within or proximate to the current community.

2026-S 2574 and 2026-S 3029 — Sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la Cruz (R-Dist. 23, North Smithfield, Burrillville, Glocester) and Sen. Todd M. Patalano (D-Dist. 26, Cranston), these bills both would prohibit municipalities from restricting certain landscaping equipment based on its power source.
The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television on Cox channels 15 and 61 for high definition; i3Broadband (Formerly Full Channel) channel 15; and Verizon channel 34.
