3/9/2026 MEDIA ADVISORY: Senate Finance Committee meets twice this week to hear budget articles and department budgets
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Finance Committee will be meeting twice this week to continue hearing budget articles and department budgets.
           
The committee is chaired by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Little Compton, Newport, Tiverton).

On Tuesday, March 10 at the RISE of the Senate (approximately 4:45 p.m.) in Room 211 of the State House, the committee will hear the FY 26 revised and FY 27 budgets for the Board of Elections, the Office of Energy Resources, the historical Preservation and Heritage Commission and the Department of Labor and Training.

The committee will also hear testimony on Article 6, Question 6, which relates to the State Preservation Grants Program, and Article 2, Section 1, which relates to the RI Uninsured Protection Fund.

On Thursday, March 12 at the RISE of the Senate (approximately 4:45 p.m.) in Room 211 of the State House, the committee will hear testimony on the budgets for the Office of Postsecondary Commissioner, the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island.

The committee will also hear the following articles from the FY 27 budget:
The committee will also hear legislation (2026-S 2830) sponsored by Chairman DiPalma that submits the state's 2026 capital development program requesting the issuance of general obligation bonds totaling $217,000,000 for approval of the electorate at the general election to be held in November 2026.
