MEDIA ADVISORY: House Education Committee to hear bills related to hazing, URI medical/dental school

STATE HOUSE — The House Education Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow to hear testimony on legislation related to hazing and the building of a medical school.
The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday, March 3, at 3 p.m. in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House.
The committee will hear testimony on a bill (2026-H 7003) introduced by Rep. Joseph M. McNamara (D-Dist. 19, Warwick, Cranston) that would direct the Department of Education to establish an anti-hazing policy in student athletics.
The panel will also hear testimony on a bill (2026-H 7418) introduced by Rep. Marie Hopkins (R-Dist. 21, Warwick) that would provide for the creation of medical and dental schools at the University of Rhode Island.
The House Education Committee is chaired by Representative McNamara.
