STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee will hold hearings on several bills today, including two to protect vaccine safety in Rhode Island.

The committee is scheduled to meet today, Thursday, Feb. 26, at the rise of the Senate session (sometime after 4:30 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House for hearings on the following bills:
  • 2026-S 2379 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Linda L. Ujifusa (D-Dist. 11, Portsmouth, Bristol) requires that insurers, managed care organizations and the medical assistance program provide coverage without cost-share requirements for vaccinations recommended by the state Department of Health.
  • 2026-S 2568 — This bill sponsored by Sen. Pamela J. Lauria (D-Dist. 32, Barrington, Bristol, East Providence) requires that routine childhood and adult immunization vaccine recommendations are developed from evidence-based, medically sound scientific research by the state Department of Health.
  • 2026-S 2117 — Sponsored by Sen. Laurie Urso (D-Dist. 8, Pawtucket), this bill sets a clear and enforceable standard for reducing the presence of harmful metals in personal care products, prioritizing public health through testing, labeling and the development of safer alternatives.
  • 2026-S 2457 — Sponsored by Senator Lauria, this bill would require that all kratom products for sale would be stored and kept in a locked case until sold.
The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television on Cox channels 15 and 61 for high definition; i3Broadband (Formerly Full Channel) channel 15; and Verizon channel 34.
