2/26/2026 MEDIA ADVISORY: Municipal Government and Housing to meet today
STATE HOUSE — The House Committee on Municipal Government and Housing will meet today to hear bills relating to rodent pest management, property revaluations and special designations for rights-of-way.

The committee is scheduled to meet today, Thursday, Feb. 26, at the rise of the House, sometime after 4:30 p.m. in Room 135 on the first floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to hear several bills, including:
  • 2026-H 7222 — This legislation introduced by Rep. Rebecca Kislak (D-Dist. 4, Providence) would create rodent integrated pest management pilot programs for municipalities that choose to participate.
  • 2026-H 7448 — This legislation introduced by Rep. Ramon A. Perez (D-Dist. 13, Providence, Johnston) would place a cap of 20 percent on increases in consecutive revaluations of real property in all cities and towns conducting revaluations commencing Dec. 31, 2026.
  • 2026-H 7776 — This legislation introduced by Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown) would allow cities or towns to, by ordinance, designate “special ways” throughout the city or town which would be subject to alternative regulations to preserve its cultural, historic or scenic character.
Written testimony must be submitted to HouseMunicipalGovernmentandHousing@rilegislature.gov. Testimony must include your name, the bill number, and your viewpoint, whether for, against, or neither. Sign-up sheets for in-person testimony will be available in the hearing room.
