2/26/2026 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Environment Committee to meet today
STATE HOUSE — The House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources will meet today to hear bills relating to clean air, wastewater treatment and artificial turf at landfills.

The committee is scheduled to meet today, Thursday, Feb. 26, at the rise of the House, sometime after 4:30 p.m. in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to hear several bills, including:
  • 2026-H 7422 — This legislation introduced by Rep. Evan P. Shanley (D-Dist. 24, Warwick, East Greenwich) would create the Rhode Island Clean Air Preservation Act.
  • 2026-H 7423 — This legislation introduced by Rep. June S. Speakman (D-Dist. 68, Warren, Bristol) would require that the Division of Statewide Planning coordinate a wastewater capacity study to evaluate the capacity, flows, physical conditions, regulatory compliance and vulnerabilities to natural hazards of publicly and privately owned wastewater infrastructure.
  • 2026-H 7736 — This legislation introduced by Rep. Jennifer Boylan (D-Dist. 66, Barrington, East Providence) would prohibit the use of artificial turf as material to cover compacted solid waste at a sanitary landfill.
