2/2/2026 Media Advisory: Senate AI and Emerging Technologies Committee to hear URI presentation on AI
STATE HOUSE — The Senate Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies Committee will meet tomorrow to hear a presentation from University of Rhode Island professors and administrators on URI’s investments in AI.

The committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 3 p.m. in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House to see AI demonstrations and hear a presentation on URI’s investments in AI research, literacy, workforce readiness and computing infrastructure from Chief Information Officer Gabriele Fariello, Computer Science Professor Indrani Mandal and Assistant Vice President for Research Computing Gaurav Khanna.

The Senate Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies considers legislation and matters relating to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, and their societal, ethical and policy implications.

The meeting will be televised live by Capitol Television, which can be seen on Cox channel 61, on i3Broadband channel 15 and on Verizon channel 34. Senate committee hearings may also air on Channel 75 for Cox subscribers. It will be live streamed at capitoltvri.cablecast.tv.
