1/8/2026 Rep. Voas named deputy majority leader
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Brandon T. Voas will serve as a House deputy majority leader this session.  Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) announced the appointment today at the House session.
           
“I am honored to join the leadership team in the House.  I am also eager to have a greater role in addressing the challenges Rhode Island is facing this year, and I thank Speaker Shekarchi, Leader Christopher Blazejewski and my colleagues in the House for their support,” said Representative Voas (D-Dist. 57, Cumberland, Central Falls).
           
First elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in November 2022, he is the second vice chair of the House Small Business Committee and is a member of the House Corporations Committee and the House Education Committee.
           
A lifelong resident of Cumberland, Representative Voas is a graduate of Cumberland High School, and he received a degree in liberal arts from the Community College of Rhode Island.
