Sen. Famiglietti attends first Senate session, receives committee assignments
|
STATE HOUSE — Sen. Stefano Famiglietti attended his first meeting of the Rhode Island Senate today as the chamber convened for 2026.
Senator Famiglietti was chosen in a special election to fill a vacancy created in District 4 by the passing of Senate President Dominick L. Ruggerio. He was formally sworn in by Secretary of State Gregg M. Amore on Aug. 14.
Senate President Valarie J. Lawson (D-Dist. 14, East Providence) has appointed him to serve on the Committee on Commerce, the Committee on Labor and the Committee on Housing and Municipal Government.
A lifelong resident of North Providence, Senator Famiglietti (D-Dist. 4, North Providence, Providence) previously served as a North Providence town councilman since 2018. He is a graduate of North Providence High School, the University of Rhode Island and Roger Williams University School of Law. Senator Famiglietti works as an attorney with his own practice in Providence.
