MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Casimiro to host Child Welfare and Child Well-Being Leadership Summit on Wednesday

STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro, the chair of the House Oversight Subcommittee on Children and Families, will be co-hosting a Child Welfare and Child Well-Being Leadership Summit on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 8:30 a.m. at the office of the National Education Association Rhode Island (NEARI), 99 Bald Hill Road, Cranston. The topic is Reducing Substance Use and Increasing Mental Health Wellness in Children and Adolescents.
Along with Representative Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter), the event will be co-hosted by Tides Family Services, Adoption Rhode Island and Family Service of Rhode Island.
Representative Casimiro will speak at 8:45 a.m., followed by opening remarks by Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi (D-Dist. 23, Warwick) at 9 a.m. They will be followed by Child Advocate Katelyn Medeiros, Attorney General Peter Neronha, and a keynote address by Dr. Laura Grubb, an adolescent medicine specialist. Also speaking before lunch will be Dr. Elizabeth Lowenhaupt, the medical and psychiatric director at the Rhode Island Training School, and Family Court Justice Lia Stuhlsatz.
