MEDIA ADVISORY: Sen. Britto, First Lady McKee to host Light RI Red for Dyslexia Wednesday at State House

STATE HOUSE — Sen. Robert Britto (D-Dist. 18, East Providence, Pawtucket), along with First lady Susan McKee, will be hosting Light RI Red for Dyslexia Wednesday at the State House.
The public event, which is being held in partnership with Decoding Dyslexia Rhode Island, will include an awards program and the lighting of the dome in red. It will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Bell Area on the first floor of the State House.
The award recipients are Latoya Watts, founder and executive director of WattsNatural Tutoring, who will receive the Educator Ally Award, and Linda Atamian, a literacy specialist who will receive the Legacy Achievement Award.
Founded in 2014 as part of a national parent-led grassroots movement, Decoding Dyslexia Rhode Island promotes evidence-based literacy practices to help all students become fluent readers and writers. The organization raises awareness about dyslexia, empowers families and collaborates with schools to advance inclusive policies and practices to promote literacy for all students.
