MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. McEntee, Sen. McKenney and ‘bottle bill’ supporters to hold press conference today

STATE HOUSE – Rep. Carol Hagan McEntee (D-Dist. 33, South Kingstown, Narragansett), Sen. Mark McKenney (D-Dist. 30, Warwick) and supporters of a bottle bill program to recycle beverage containers will hold a press conference today to highlight three pieces of legislation that resulted from the Special Joint Legislative Commission to Study and Provide Recommendations to Protect our Environment and Natural Resources from Plastic Bottle Waste.
Representative McEntee and Senator McKinney co-chaired the commission.
The press conference, to be held today, Thursday, June 5, at 3:15 p.m. in the House Lounge of the State House, will highlight the following three bills:

2025-H 6207, 2025-S 0996, sponsored by Representative McEntee and Senator McKenney, would implement an extended producer responsibility (EPR) program for statewide recycling of packaging and printed paper and a bottle bill program for beverage containers.

2025-H 6206, 2025-S 0997, sponsored by Rep. Tina L. Spears (D-Dist. 36, Charlestown, New Shoreham, South Kingstown, Westerly) and Sen. Bridget Valverde (D-Dist. 35, North Kingstown, East Greenwich, South Kingstown), would establish a comprehensive program providing for deposits on, and recycling of, beverage containers.

2025-H 6205, 2025-S 0939, sponsored by Rep. David A. Bennett (D-Dist. 20, Warwick, Cranston) and Sen. Jacob E. Bissaillon (D-Dist. 1, Providence), would create extended producer responsibility for packaging and paper program for the recycling of packaging and paper products.
