MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee to meet twice this week to hear a budget amendment and legislation
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will be meeting twice this week to hear testimony on several bills and a budget amendment.
On Tuesday, June 3, at the RISE of the House (approximately 5:30 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the committee will consider two local bond bills for Block Island (2025-S 0422) and Central Falls (2025-S 0674).
Among the legislation scheduled to be heard are the following bills:

2025-H 6308, sponsored by Rep. Teresa A. Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, South Kingstown, Narragansett), requires the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to apply to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for a state plan amendment for reimbursement for health services in a school.

2025-H 6326, sponsored by Rep. Joseph J. Solomon Jr. (D-Dist. 22, Warwick), authorizes the appropriation of the sum of $2,300,000 to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management for the transplantation of quahogs and the establishment of a shellfish hatchery program.

2025-H 6351, sponsored by Rep. Deborah A. Fellela (D-Dist. 43, Johnston), requires payments by the Resource Recovery Corporation to increase from a $3 tipping fee per vehicle to a $6 tipping fee per vehicle, unless exempt. This act would also require fees be paid to Johnston on an annual rather than a biannual basis.

2025-H 6373, sponsored by Rep. Megan L. Cotter (D-Dist. 39, Exeter, Richmond, Hopkinton), requires the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to increase Medicaid payment rates for primary care services furnished by primary care providers to be commensurate with Medicare rates.
On Wednesday, June 4, at 4 p.m. in Room 35, the committee will hear testimony on Budget Amendment #27, which relates to the motion picture tax credit.
The committee will also hear testimony on the following bills:

2025-H 5524, sponsored by Rep. Matthew S. Dawson (D-Dist. 65, East Providence), includes the deputy chief of inspection and inspector within the provision of law related to retirement on service allowance relating to correctional officers.

2025-H 6191, sponsored by Rep. Lauren H. Carson (D-Dist. 75, Newport), authorizes the appropriation of the sum of $10 million to the Rhode Island Foundation, to generate funds to support public education.
