5/28/2025 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee to meet on Thursday to hear testimony on event ticket tax bill and a budget amendment
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will be meeting on Thursday, May 29, at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House to hear testimony on legislation (2025-H 6334), sponsored by Rep. Rebecca Kislak (D-Dist. 4, Providence) on behalf of the Providence City Council, that would authorize municipalities to impose a ticket tax on ticket sales for venues large enough to hold at least 800 patrons, seated, of two dollars per ticket. The tax would be redistributed to the locality where the venue is located.

Legislation (2025-H 6365) sponsored by Rep. Megan L. Cotter (D-Dist. 39, Exeter, Richmond, Hopkinton) that would impose a 50 cent delivery fee per transaction for deliveries in the state will also be heard by the committee.

The committee will also hear testimony on the following budget amendment related to inpatient long-term behavioral healthcare rates:
