Media Advisory: House Environment Committee to meet Thursday
|
STATE HOUSE — The House Environment and Natural Resources Committee will meet Thursday to vote on bills relating to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in firefighter gear and the remediation of arsenic.
The committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, May 29, at the rise of the House, sometime after 4:30 p.m. in Room 101 on the first floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to vote on the following bills:

2025-S 0241 — This bill introduced by Sen. Walter S. Felag Jr. (D-Dist. 10, Warren, Bristol, Tiverton) would prohibit a manufacturer from manufacturing, knowingly selling, offering for sale, distributing for sale or distributing for use in the state any firefighting personal protective equipment containing intentionally-added PFAS as of January 1, 2027.

2025-H 6208 — This bill introduced by Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown) would strike the words “which is naturally occurring” with regard to any promulgated rules and regulations of the Department of Environmental Management relating to the remediation of arsenic.

2025-H 6157 — This bill introduced by Rep. Kathleen A. Fogarty (D-Dist. 35, South Kingstown) would create a new commercial fishing license for invasive green crabs for Rhode Island residents for $25 annually.
