MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets on Thursday to hear legislation
|
STATE HOUSE – The House Finance Committee will be meeting on Thursday, April 3, at the RISE of the House (approximately 5 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House to hear testimony on several pieces of legislation.
Among the legislation scheduled to be heard are the following bills:

2025-H 5391, sponsored by Rep. Samuel A. Azzinaro (D-Dist. 37, Westerly), provides Rhode Island residents over nonresidents with priority when making reservations to secure a campsite and other recreational facilities.

2025-H 5533, sponsored by Rep. Terri Cortvriend (D-Dist. 72, Portsmouth, Middletown), reinstates general revenue sharing of state aid among the 39 cities and towns in Rhode Island. The initial amount is based upon population, and increased annually thereafter based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers.

2025-H 5739, sponsored by Rep. Raymond A. Hull (D-Dist. 6, Providence, North Providence), funds the State Crime Victim Compensation Program through an additional $1 fine on traffic violations, exclusive of violations related to the parking of vehicles.

2025-H 6098, sponsored by Rep. Mary Ann Shallcross Smith (D-Dist. 46, Lincoln, Pawtucket), creates the Rhode Island Student Loan Repayment Program which would allow eligible individuals who have unpaid student loans to receive relief if the individual is employed as a licensed clinical social worker, social caseworker or child protective investigator in any public elementary or secondary school in the state.
