3/18/2025 Media Advisory: House Environment Committee to meet Thursday
STATE HOUSE — The House Environment and Natural Resources Committee will meet Thursday to hear bills related to microplastics pollution, public drinking water safety and wildlife killing contests.

The committee is scheduled to meet Thursday, March 20, at the rise of the House, sometime after 4:30 p.m. in Room 135 on the first floor of the State House. The committee is scheduled to hear several bills, including:
  • 2025-H 5492 — This bill introduced by Rep. Jennifer Boylan (D-Dist. 66, Barrington, East Providence) would prohibit the manufacture, sale or distribution in Rhode Island of any product with intentionally added microplastics, beginning Jan. 1, 2029.
  • 2025-H 5845 — This bill introduced by Rep. Earl A. Read III (D-Dist. 26, Coventry, West Warwick, Warwick) would require Rhode Island water suppliers to prepare a resilience assessment and response plan for the risk of natural hazards like flooding.
  • 2025-H 5606 — This bill introduced by Rep. Rebecca Kislak (D-Dist. 4, Providence) would prohibit wildlife killing contests on both public and private land in the state.
Written testimony must be submitted at HouseEnvironmentandNaturalResources@rilegislature.gov. Testimony must include your name, the bill number and your viewpoint, whether for, against or neither. Sign-up sheets for in-person testimony will be available in the hearing room.
