Media Advisory: Senate Education Committee to hear early childhood bills
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Education Committee will meet Wednesday for hearings on several bills concerning early childhood programs.
The meeting is scheduled Wednesday, March 5, at 4 p.m. in Room 313 on the third floor of the State House. The following bills are scheduled for hearings:

2025-S 0231 — Sponsored by Sen. Bridget Valverde (D-Dist. 35, North Kingstown, East Greenwich, South Kingstown), this bill establishes a task force managed by the children’s cabinet to develop recommendations to improve access to early intervention and early childhood special education services.

2025-S 0247— Also sponsored by Senator Valverde, this bill would place the intervention program for developmentally disabled infants under the jurisdiction of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

2025-S 0394 — This bill sponsored by Education Committee Chairwoman Hanna M. Gallo (D-Dist. 27, Cranston, West Warwick) would establish guidelines for the expansion of high-quality public prekindergarten programs for children ages 3 and 4 to increase children’s school-readiness.
The meeting will be televised by Capitol Television on Cox channels 15 and 61 for high definition; i3Broadband (Formerly Full Channel) channel 15; and Verizon channel 34.
