4/29/2024 Media Advisory: House Labor Committee meets Wednesday for hearings
STATE HOUSE – The House Labor Committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday for hearings on several bills.

The meeting is scheduled Wednesday, May 1, at 4 p.m. in the House Lounge on the second floor of the State House.

Among the bills to be heard are:
  • 2024-H 8044 — Sponsored by Rep. Raymond A. Hull (D-Dist. 6, Providence, North Providence), this bill would establish civil remedies to protect against bullying and psychological abuse in the workplace inflicted upon employees by employers or coworkers.
  • 2024-H 7797 — Sponsored by Rep. Robert J. Quattrocchi (R-Dist. 41, Scituate, Cranston), this bill would prohibit a private employer from mandating a COVID-19 vaccination upon any full-time, part-time, or contract employee without providing individual exemptions that allow an employee to opt out.
  • 2024-H 8174 — This bill sponsored by Rep. Matthew S. Dawson (D-Dist. 65, East Providence) would expand the law on school lunch service contracts requirements that provides for payment to workers and aides for 180 days or the contract for the school year, exclusive of paid time off, including vacation days or other forms of compensatory time off.
