12/20/2023 Rep. Casimiro and NKPA hold student holiday party at Kingstown Crossings
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) and the North Kingstown Police Association held a holiday party for high-school residents of Kingstown Crossings on December 19.  The apartment complex is owned and operated by Crossroads Rhode Island and caters to low-income families and individuals.

Representative Casimiro, a substitute teacher at North Kingstown High School, organized the party with School Resource Officer (SRO) Thomas Menec after getting to know several students who live at the complex.

“As a long-time substitute teacher at North Kingstown High School, I have met and taught several students who live at Kingstown Crossings and their stories moved me to bring a little holiday spirit to their home.  Some of these kids have been through, and continue to endure through, very difficult circumstances and the SRO and I knew we had to do something to show the students that their community cares about them and wants them to have a joyous holiday season.  I thank all the volunteers and businesses that opened their hearts and made this event possible, in particular SRO Menec for his service to the students and the community,” said Representative Casimiro.

Donations were received from Dave’s Fresh Marketplace, Providence Coal Fired Pizza and Richards Pub and the event offered food, gifts and holiday cheer for the students.
