MEDIA ADVISORY: Sen. Felag, Rep. Speakman to host State House blood drive in memory of Sen. Goodwin on Oct. 19

STATE HOUSE – Sen. Walter S. Felag Jr. (D-Dist. 10, Warren, Bristol, Tiverton) and Rep. June S. Speakman (D-Dist. 68, Warren, Bristol) will host a blood drive at the State House in loving memory of Sen. Maryellen Goodwin on Thursday, October 19. The blood drive will occur from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Senate Lounge of the State House.
Elected in 1986, Senator Goodwin was the Senate Majority Whip and she diligently represented District 1, Providence in the RI State Senate. She passed away in April, following a battle with cancer. Her accomplishments are impactful and endless. She worked tirelessly on behalf of the underprivileged, advocated for her constituents, advanced quality elder care, promoted domestic violence prevention, and increased access to healthcare.

If State House bookings reach capacity, please schedule an appointment with the RIBC’s Providence Donor Center, which is conveniently located in Senator Goodwin’s district, nearby the State House, at 405 Promenade Street.
Donors are asked to eat and hydrate beforehand.
