State, local leaders to highlight progress on lead pipe replacement
|
STATE HOUSE – Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio (D-Dist. 4, North Providence, Providence), U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, Gov. Dan McKee, North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi, and other state and local leaders will highlight ongoing efforts to replace all lead pipes in Rhode Island’s water supply during an event this morning in North Providence.
The event will be held on Tuesday, April 4, at 11:30 a.m., outside 7 Ferncliff Ave. in North Providence. The lead water lines leading to the multi-family home at 7 Ferncliff Ave., as well as other homes on the street, are about to undergo replacement.

The event will highlight the federal funds available to replace lead pipes; the Lead Poisoning Prevention Act (2023-S 0002, 2023-H 5007), sponsored by President Ruggerio and Representative O’Brien; and the considerable work on this issue in communities around Rhode Island, especially North Providence’s successful efforts.
