3/27/2023 MEDIA ADVISORY: Senate Finance Committee meets twice this week to hear budget articles, department budgets and legislation
STATE HOUSE — The Senate Finance Committee will meet twice this week to hear testimony on articles from the governor’s proposed FY 2024 state budget (2023-H 5200), department budgets and legislation.

The committee is chaired by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Little Compton, Newport, Tiverton).

On Tuesday, March 28 at the RISE (approximately 5 p.m.) of the Senate in the Senate Lounge, the committee will hear testimony on the FY 2024 and FY 2023 Supplemental budgets for the Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals and the Office of the Mental Health Advocate.

On Thursday, March 30 at the RISE of the Senate (approximately 5 p.m.) in the Senate Lounge, the committee will hear testimony on the FY 2024 and FY 2023 Supplemental budgets for the Department of Children, Youth and Families and testimony on the Office of the Child Advocate.  The committee will also hear testimony on Article 11, Section 4 of the budget proposal, which relates to the DCYF lease in Bristol.

The committee will also hear testimony on legislation (2023-S 0464) sponsored by Sen. Hanna M. Gallo (D-Dist. 27, Cranston, West Warwick) which adds "national touring productions" to the productions that are considered an "accredited theater production" for purposes of musical and theatrical production tax credits and extends the sunset of the credits to July 1 2027.  They will also hear testimony on a bill (2023-S 0711) sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Ryan W. Pearson (D-Dist. 19, Cumberland, Lincoln) which provides that prevailing wage requirements for Rebuild Rhode Island and historic preservation tax credits do not apply to project applications submitted prior to January 1, 2023.
