Media Advisory: Senate Health, Human Services Committee meets Thursday
|
STATE HOUSE – The Senate Health and Human Services Committee is scheduled to meet Thursday for hearings on a variety of bills.
The meeting is scheduled Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. in the Senate Lounge on the second floor of the State House. Among the bills on the agenda for hearings are:

2023-S 0025 — Sponsored by Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Joshua Miller (D-Dist. 28, Cranston, Providence), this bill would require Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH) to work with the Department of Health to propose updates to the state’s law governing BHDDH’s efforts to address substance disorder.

2023-S 0026 — Also sponsored by Chairman Miller, this bill extends the expiration date of the Harm Reduction Center Advisory Committee and Pilot Program by two years, from March 1, 2024, to March 1, 2026.

2023-S 0282 — Sponsored by Sen. Jonathon Acosta (D-Dist. 16, Central Falls, Pawtucket), this bill updates language used in state laws, replacing terms like “mentally retarded” with “person with an intellectual and/or developmental disability,” and “alcoholic” or “drug abuser” with “person with substance use disorder.”
