2/3/2023 Kislak appointed to four House committees
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Rebecca Kislak has been appointed to four House committees, House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi announced this week.

Representative Kislak (D-Dist. 4, Providence) will now serve as second vice chairperson of the House Education Committee, a committee she served on as a member during the previous term.

Additionally, she has been appointed the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, the Health and Human Services Committee and the Innovation, Internet and Technology Committee.

“As I begin my third term, I am very eager to take on greater responsibilities in the House through these new committee appointments. They are all areas that are important to the community I represent, and in which I have considerable interest and experience myself. I look forward to hearing from many interested Rhode Islanders and taking part in fascinating discussions this year as we craft legislation to help make our state a better place for all people,” said Representative Kislak.

Representative Kislak, an attorney with years of experience in social services and healthcare policy, has been an outspoken supporter of Providence’s public schools, health equity and economic justice.  She is a parent with two children in Providence Public Schools. She was the sponsor of Rhode Island’s law creating a permanent commission to promote and continually improve genocide and Holocaust education in schools. In 2022, she led a successful effort to restrict the use of neonicotinoids in pesticides, and she continues to work on an effort to join the majority of states in adopting national standards for e-bikes and legislation to improve the legal infrastructure for bicycle transportation.
