2/2/2023 Rep. Batista named to Small Business, Municipal Government and Housing committees
Will also continue to serve on Judiciary, Oversight committees

STATE HOUSE – Rep. José F. Batista has been named to two additional committees this term— the Committee on Small Business and the Committee on Municipal Government and Housing — House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi has announced.

Representative Batista (D-Dist. 12, Providence) will also continue to serve on the Judiciary Committee and the Oversight Committee, on which he served last term as well.

“Small business and housing are both such important issues in my district. Along with my work on the Judiciary and Oversight committees, these new committee assignments are exciting opportunities for me to serve as a voice for the South Side and Washington Park as we develop legislation that will have real effects on neighborhoods and people in my district,” said Representative Batista.

Representative Batista was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020. He is an attorney specializing in providing bilingual legal representation to members of his community. He also serves as assistant city solicitor for the City of Central Falls and leads its Nuisance Property Task Force, which is dedicated to crafting community-oriented solutions for nuisance properties.
